Upon successful completion of this course and passing the required examination, a trainee should be able to:
- Efficiently operate GMDSS equipment required in sea area A1, A2, A3, and A4.
- Fulfill primary radio communications responsibility during distress, urgency, safety, and routine incidents.
- Given the number of serious problems experienced in the GMDSS resulting from numerous, often accidental, false distress alerts, training will be provided to ensure the awareness and avoidance of unintentional transmission of false distress alerts, and the procedures which mitigate the effects of false distress alerts following unintentional transmission.
For U.S. mariners, please note that upon completion of this course, you will need to take an FCC Element 7 exam for FCC Licensing. For more information about FCC Licensing, please contact our Registration Office at 508-992-4025 or at registration@northeastmaritime.com.
